Gone

Action 3rd News is two veterans lighter with the departures of midday anchor Mary Williams and political reporter Joe Jordan. According to an email sent to an alert viewer by the station, Williams's part-time position was cut for economic reasons. No word regarding the circumstances of Jordan's exit.

Williams had been with the station since the early '80s; Jordan since the late '70s.

Somehow, gasbag sportstool Travis Justice and anchor/screaming reporter Devon Patton remain at KMTV. But station management just can't seem to figure out why, for the umpteenth consecutive year, it's so hard to get out of 3rd place.

Apart from a couple of photogs there is no one left at Channel Third that can remember when they actually competed for ratings in this town. Let us say a special prayer for those old newsers who used to toss a few cocktails back at the Mai Tai Lounge between newscasts and would talk about something called JOURNALISM. Rest in peace NewsCenter 3.

That's insanity. Joe Jordan was one of the extremely few number of reporters in this city that had any amount of credibility.

Just another sad sign of the times. Mary did a fair job with her delivery, and the political news won't be the same without Joe.

Someone correct me, but isn't Jordan married to Deb Ward? She got the boot over a year ago so management could put more mindless eye-candy on the screen.

Two above-average (for the market) broadcasters gone in favor of...wait...what did KMTV gain?

Nevermind.

I'm presuming Mary has been replaced at noon by Sheila Brummer. If anyone still harbored illusions that KMthird was a player, remember that canning anybody in favor of Sheila Brummer is de facto evidence that the station has jumped the shark/crawled off to die or what ever metaphor that says get yourself buried.

It just gets sadder and sadder.

wait, was mary williams the noon anchor? I thought that was usually the highest rated newscast at any time of the day or night for KMTV, wasn't it??

Wow, what inept management at Channel 3, I actually watch them, but not anymore.

>I actually watch them, but not >anymore.

The real reason I watch KMTV news is that I watch Letterman, and I'm too lazy to change the channel. Yeah, I know ...

I really think what props up 3 and 6 for local news are Letterman and Conan.

I usually get annoyed with this blog because it's always so negative. I try to pitch in every now and again to put a little positive spin on things (and then am accused of being related to or actually being that person...it's rather humerous!). The loss of Jordan and Williams is terrible news for an already terrible station at KM3. I was actually glad to see Brummer on the desk at noon, it just goes to show how stupid their management is! A friend of mine wrote an email to the station a while back and complained about her. They replied saying she is a respected part of their newsroom or something funny like that. Now the only time I watch KM3 is on the weekends. Don't laugh but I sort of like Patton's quirkiness! Stowell is good with anyone and Seigel is good too.

Brummer respected? By whom? Those who don't realize a reporter's not supposed to tamper with a crime scene? They'd be better off just saying she's part of their newsroom and leaving it at that.

mary was the main reason to watch km3. i remember she did get the best ratings. i could never understand why they didn't have her on instead of carol w.
hopefully she will be on tv news again.

hmmm...whats the problem with shelia brummer? i think she is just fine...perfectly normal and professional, with a hint of appropriate personality. she's waaaay better than karrie stowell, who couldnt annunciate correctly.

here's what i dont get....dean wysocki is now on only on the weekends. he was awesome! he added humor and an interesting perspective on stories. now we are just left with boring old ct. YAWN.... i think dean added to the morning show and made it come alive! why isnt he on more??

also..i was flipping through the channels over the weekend and caught malorie maddox....soooo..i listed carefully to see how she talked. i thought she sounded just fine. every word was pronounced correctly. i have to think this is a personal grudge this blog has against her.....

You are honestly the first person I have heard say that Brummer is better than Stowell. I'm glad KM3 finally has Stowell where she can be viewed. I'm not sure too many people watch the local morning shows anyway. I'm more a SportsCenter person myself.
