Info

Note to the folks at the Channel Sux morning show, in response to your insipid promos: You don't have any information that anyone needs "as they step out the door" or "go about their day." People made it well into the 1980s without two monotonous hours of yammering, fourth-rate hacks with broadcasting degrees telling them that traffic was running smoothly or that they should allow a little extra time to get to work.

We understand that, at this point, delusion is probably the only thing that keeps Jimmy and Maladroit coming in at 4 a.m. every day, year after mind-numbing year. But you people need to find some other way to convince these two clowns that their work has any lasting value or meaning.

Why was the original post on this topic rewritten? Why was the original post in a different font? And why did I think the original post was directed towards KETV not WOWT?

This same criticism is true of the entire local tv "news" industry. They want us to believe they are giving all kinds of info we "need", yet more and more they are more concerned with giving us info we are very capable of living WITHOUT. While it might be mildly interesting and somewhat useful, we dont NEED it. And it ain't NEWS. It's fluff, human interest and self (or network) promotion.
And to try and sell it as NEWS is
comical, not mention killes their
credibility.

The only thing different was the font size.

You mean Tracy Madden can't give me good advice as to whether this is a good time to start a small business? Because that's one of the promos I believe I saw tonight while watching the Globes.

ripped right out of today's World-Herald, in fact. Way to be original, 6 News

I think, given her extensive medical background and prior career as an OB/GYN, Dr. Tracy Madden would be better suited keeping women healthy with her monthly women’s health deal.

A ways off this topic, so my apologies, but even though I like Tracy Madden, one thing she does bugs the hell out of me. At the start of the last break of the cast she pipes in with, "We are back to wrap things up." Then they cut to commercial. If she would just use the correct verb tense, as a communications professional should, it would be fine. "We'll be back to wrap things up" is fine, but "we ARE back..." makes no sense when they immediately cut to commercial.

Tracy, you're not back until the red light pops up on the camera you're facing. You'll BE back after the commercials.

"Ten minutes of non-stop news"...? Since when did Channel Sux start presenting ANY thing other than vapid, insipid reports? Again; I point particularly to the morning newscast and the Friday and Saturday newscasts. I used to actually like to watch Jaime McCutcheon, but the content of those two nights really needs some major overhaul. Do all the reporters phone it in on those two nights?

C'mon guys...there's a reason you are slipping in the ratings.

Speaking of which:

Ted,

Can you give us a clue as to how the November books came out? I have not seen anything on this. Thanks for any info you can provide.

WOWT won the coveted November book. Clean sweep -- #1 in every newscast -- even in the "key" demo.
BTW -- 6 won July too.

Go ahead -- let the whining begin from the has beens who can only watch now from their mothers' basements.

Channel Sux won November? Sorry, KETV, but as long as Fubar Fazal is still stealing...errrr....recieving a paycheck, I am guessing the results will continue to be the same.

If that's true that Sux actually did win November, then I would guess that viewership is either down or there are a heck of lot of old people tuning in once again to see that "nice" Dave Webber. Or perhaps it's a pool run on what color the flower will be in Jim's lapel. Or maybe a drinking game on how many times Knicely will screw up when he veers away from the teleprompter.

Whatever the case; the November ratings are probably the exception rather than the norm.

Now get on back to Ghost Busting you Suxers...

your info is incorrect, saywhat. wowt did not "sweep" november sweeps (lol).
ketv actually won (just barely) the morning spots at 5am & 6am.

It's obvious the Brandi Petersen effect has begun. KETV can expect a consistent plummet in their ratings as long as she is on the anchor desk

Sux News!! Winners!! Puh-Lease!!! I have been telling my husband for years that the only reason they win the ratings pool is because all of Omaha tunes in just to be put to sleep from there broadcast so therefore the TV's are left on. No one in there RIGHT mind is actually watching. or listening.

On another note, I agree with the fourth panel in the cartoon and the fact that Omaha does keep lying to itself that we are a fun cosmopiltan hyp area to frequent. If that we're true, we all wouldnt be bee-lining it to places such as Vegas(5 times a year), Hawaii, New York etc. I can't remember the last time I heard anyone say " Let's go to Omaha for Vacation this winter." or "Let's get a group together and spring break in Omaha." What a rockin good time!
