Hello, I must be going...

We left on vacation in mid-March, thinking that by the time we returned, we would have regained some enthusiasm for writing this little blog. But when we rolled back into town in early April, it took only about five minutes of checking out the local news to prove that we lacked the stomach for this.

So we didn't write. And then didn't write some more.

There are only so many times you can sit through the idiotic droning of Farrah Fazal, the nervous warbling of Brian New, or the pathetic attempts of Sheila Brummer to hide her crossed eye or Jim "Last Word/Gomer" Siedlecki to minimize the lisp that emanates from his Nanny McPhee-like snaggletooth.

(We knew the quality of recent hires was degenerating when we realized that the previously insufferable Elictia Hammond seems pretty decent by comparison.)

Only now are we even mildly interested in resuming our work here, with an especially heavy emphasis on the mild. Henceforth, the output here will be irregular and sporadic at best.

And, for the record: Ted was neither "outed," nor is he Carol Schrader. Give it up, already.

I'm sure you could insult the local media regularly. I have faith!

Carol Schrader? Wow, that's pushing it.
Glad to have you back, even if it is periodically.

Very good. I can barely stand to watch the local news; your blog gives me courage. At least I can laugh at their antics.

Jesus Christ, it's about time. BTW I never get tired of Fubar bashing.

Ted, I can speak for myself and others to let you know that we missed you, and can only hope that you will continue this blog. Everything you write is so true, we enjoy every word! Keep up the good work!

Is it just a coincidence that Ted comes back during the same week that we are getting a much needed break from the bleater on Action 3rd? At least the fill there doesn't make we wish for a power outage every time he comes on the air.

I don't think you would have to post every day, but it would be nice to have an update maybe once a week or two, even if all you say is that you are still alive.

KXVO has a different news program on the air now than anyone else, wondering what your thoughts are on that program

Perhaps ye can select a kindred soul from the multitudes hereabouts to take over thine duties???

The source material is relentless, never-ending, bombarding the ether with the electro-magnetic waves that pierce our brains and the reception and translating device known as the TV. Well, it IS likely many of ye utilize the cable TV thingy thus allowing thine TV to slurp up the signal bypassing the broadcast signal but, in my humble shanty, the "rabbit ear" antennae IS the arrival method.

The unwashed huddled yearning masses cry out for the continuation of this itty bitty nook of the Web in order to rage and vent and holler and lambast and comment and gripe and a whole lotta' udder stuff that presently does not come readily to hand but is surely appropriate in regards to the extremely lame spewing by corporate entities making their profit by bombarding the masses with their lame so-called newscasts or something because after typing this looong sentence I kinda' forgot what message I was trying to convey between the sobs and tears running down my oh-so pudgy cheeks, collecting at the end of my lard-laden double pert' near triple chin, those droplets accumulating, coalescing, obeying gravity's law and cascading to the desk before me and I want this blog to continue unabated even if a lesser mere mortal has to take over for the revered more-than-humanoid Ted and I think I'm gonna' go blow my nose and wipe off those wet things covering my face.

Sniff.

I luv you, Ted. You're my hero!!!!!!!

Carol Schrader never wrote this well. She was never a serious "Ted" candidate.

Don't give it up, Ted.

Welcome back! We have REALLY missed you! Your updates keep us sane and amused at the same time! We look forward to any commentary you can offer as it makes watching the local news more enjoyable. :-) Keep up the great work!

Awww...do the poor news haters have nowhere to run and complain? Poor people have to sit there and bottle up your anger at home? Did Teddy let you down? Quit your b****ing...your complaining is less professional than what goes on television. Take it for what its worth or move to another city. I hope Ted never posts again so you can continue to look like fools. "Ted, your blog gives me courage" Spare me.

Ted, welcome back. You have been missed.

Please don’t give up the blog. It’s great to see that you and all the contributors feel the same way about the lame ass news going on in this town. It’s good to know I’m not alone.

I think we all get down about the lack of journalism displayed on Omaha TV. I certainly can’t blame you for wanting to give up and take up water skiing or whatever it is you do in your spare time…

But, I see a new opportunity. One I think could use your expertise and your passion. Instead of always complaining (which I know I do my fair share of), why can’t we start a revolution? If we get enough people to rally why can’t we get things changed? Or, what if you start your own news site? Anything has to be better than the poppycock going on now.

Ted, don’t give up. March on.

Welcome back to the Heartland to provide more complete coverage of the dreck known as Omaha News media. More insufferable than anything Carol Kloss whelps or Kathy Sarantos-Niver prissies thorugh yours is a beacon of sanity in an otherwise muddled and flubbed foray into faux journalism.

I doubt that someone put a gun to your head and made you come to this site, so either find something else to do with your time, or sit back and enjoy. I don't know that any of us will be disappointed if you leave.

Lunch lady --- Who are you, Judy Garland ? You sound like her in one of those movies with Mickey Rooney where the kids decide to put on a show. What are you going to do -- commandeer the station like they do in a South American military coup ? Fire everybody and replace them with volunteers ? Get real.

psblowshog said...

Hosh, Yeah someone did put a gun to my head. We are going to court over it. Maybe one of your beloved stations will report on it, mess up a word and you can go on and bash them. I am also sure you are perfect at your job, and have never made a mistake. Unless you've worked under the pressure of a newsroom and dealt with a$$holes like yourself who constantly email, call, write letters, and stop you on the street, I'd suggest you let them do their job whether you like it or not. Ted obviously has worked in the business or has a journalism degree of some sort and has seen what really goes on. Its people like you who think he is your saving grace that baffles me. I've never worked in the Omaha market, although I have media experience and I read to see what he has to say about colleagues I respect. His opinions are fine because he understands. But the judgemental public who doesn't understand the stresses that we go through and the constant stranglehold by management bothers me. So go on, f up your own job, and wait for someone to blog about it. See how you feel...

Guess Who: The nice thing about this blog is that everyone is entitled to their opinion, including YOU. If you want to defend your news station, then fine. However, there are those of us out here who have the right to denigrate it as well. Most of us that are regular contributors to this blog want to see the best product on air. Sadly, that is something that we are not seeing in the Omaha-Metro area.

Yet, in defense of the stations here, news stations in other cities that I have seen over the past few years are just as lazy and as much into the entertainment factor as they are here. I believe that this is more of a reflection on society as a whole than on the news media. That is quite possibly why Channel Six always seems to be on top. It certainly isn't because of their weak news content.

Omababe said...

So good to have you back, Ted.

Yes, Omaha news is the same as when you left. :( Still have three of them who badly need voice coaching, Big Six still teases the audience and slips in plugs for sponsors as if they were news. :(

Viewers still are not getting a quality program anywhere, and sponsors are not getting what they are paying for, but I must admit that 3 seems to have improved.

Carol Shrader??? Actually, I have quite a bit of respect for her, but she doesn't seem to have the "Ted" personality. :)

So Ted trashing Travis Justice for being fat and boring is criticism you respect? Wow. Keep up your high expectations. I've been on both sides of the criticism (support Ted on one hand, the media on the other), and this is really all in fun.
I don't know how else to tell you: If you don't like it, don't read it. I know how it is to be criticized, and I deal with it. If I couldn't deal with it, I would FIND A NEW JOB!
But I suppose I should drop it because I'm sure I don't understand to the level that you do.

I just found this from here >> http://www.eomaha.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3383

I love what you have going on here, but I know what you mean about not being able to stomach the BS. It's tough to swallow. Does the local news ever cover any real news?

Now that Courtny Gerrish is gone from Omaha, Omaha news is not worth watching. I'm serious, I have stopped watching Omaha news all together.

Does it appear to anyone else that "Action News 3" is prejudging Roy Ellis's guilt, possibly even interfering with the police investigation? And what's with interviewing his past, possibly underage, victims? Do they deserve this invasion of their privacy? Yes, I realize this sort of thing is par for the course for the media. However, I fear that this will not only undermine the police case for the true suspect, it may prevent an untainted jury from being seated in this town and thus cause a mistrial.

Let me say that as a Level 3 Sex Offender, Roy Ellis is clearly no Boy Scout. But he might not be guilty this time. And despite his past crimes, there is a legitimate distinction in law between statutory rape and kidnapping/murder.
