Another Positive Comment (Two in One Day?!)

Has anyone seen KMTV's new reporter Molli Graham? She seems quite capable and doesn't make us want to throw a hammer at the TV, which is unusual these days. Ditto regarding KETV's Owen Lei, whose work seems miles ahead of the crap turned in by the likes of fellow recent hires Laura Liggett and Farrah "FUBAR" Fazal. Note to every station in town: Graham and Lei are the kind of talent you should be hiring.

Molli is really good. She came from our TV station in Bend, OR and we miss her dearly.

Another good thing was when channel 6 acted like they practically solved the Amber Harris case last night. Way to make yourselves more important than the story guys!

I can't believe this blog doesn't have something to say about 6's latest find, Maniko Bartholemew. Did anyone actually watch a tape or get an audition of some kind before hiring her?

I have seen Molli "want a cracker, make it a" Graham. OK, but not that great. Falls in the Courtney Gerrish mold. Surronded by dolts so her game looks elevated, when alas, it's kinda pedestrian.

Speaking of dolts, who thought up that Action 3 News? I've given it a few chances, and it is not good. The short, choppy delivery looks like it was formulated for a ritalin deprived, short attention span focus group consisting of 13 year olds snorting crank. It's like somebody reading you their text messages. Maybe they can start using emoticons and shortcuts on their news captions, like: "LKIDA @AKS", or Ryan McPike's "2HOT4U 4CAST".

I saw my first post-FWIW Travis Justice sports report the other day. He spoke so rapidly and breathlessly it was positively comical. The guy reporting on the Hindenburg disaster was much more clear and composed than Trav was in his Sportscast of Panic. Now I've never hated Trav like Ted and others here, but this was just ridiculous. And there was no need for it. He didn't have 10 pounds of copy he was trying to jam into a two-pound time slot. It was simply delivered in a style someone has told him sounds good for an "Action News" show. The rest of the stories in the cast were crap, too. As it turns out, Greg and Deb spending the other morning on T-n-T pimping the new format was just what it sounded: a lot of lip-service trying to sell something from yet another consultant. Now 6 and 7 are injecting themselves into every story in order to keep up with the Joneses. Only the geniuses who run those two outfits would play one-up with the guy in third place. What a collection of dipshits.
