Why Does KETV Tease Us This Way?

We know it's just wishful thinking, but every morning that we tune in to KETV without being greeted by the ghastly specter of Elictia Hammond is one more morning that gets us believing that Channel 7 management has finally come to its senses and (1) fired Omafrickinrosa and (2) replaced her with the much better Brandi Petersen.

And while we're on the topic of that particular morning show, would someone tell traffic robot Jana Murrell that winning a beauty pageant doesn't excuse you from having to do something with your hair? It was downright scary Tuesday morning.

How friggin hard is it to tell the people of Omaha that there will be traffic backups at 90th and Dodge, eastbound 1-80 at the 4-80 split, 114th and Dodge ang whatever route you take out of west Omaha to get downtown?

This chick has the easiest job in the entire televised universe.

I swear Brandi is mashing her teeth having to pick up the slack from this moron and Mumbles Bredow.

Traffic gets more airtime than it's actually worth.

After living in New Orleans and Dallas, as well as having family in Los Angeles and San Diego I find the notion of these traffic people as completely ridiculous... borderline insane (or maybe completely insane).

Who thinks (or told) Jana that the hair-pinned-up-and-bunned-and-sprayed look is attractive? Speaks to a lack of initiative on her part, especially since she doesn't look bad at all in the promos with her hair done up. Equivalence, maybe--Oakey goes on-camera wearing a baseball cap...?

Frankly, I'm not sure why the anchor can't deliver the traffic news as well. Obviously, this gal has shown us that traffic broadcasting is not all that difficult. Of course, with the pumpkin and halloween stories on 6, the traffic report has been more interesting, even if it comes from a robot.

Why do Omaha TV Stations have traffic reports? Because research shows viewers care about two things in the morning, weather and are there any delays on their ride to work/school. The only reason I can see KETV going with an on-air traffic person is to give a different look than 6 or 3.

This quote from Murrell in the latest edition of The Reader says it all about most of KETV's operation:

"The hardest part was coming in with no prior experience in broadcast journalism and not knowing the terms and who does what," Murrell said. "It's also not easy standing in front of the green screen and pointing to things that aren't there".

I know that this will shock all of you, so please sit down before reading my comment.

Are you seated. Good. Please put the beverage down, you may spill it when you read this.

Is the beverage down? Good. Here goes........

TV never hires on-air talent because they are smart, or have experience with broadcasting.

Be prepared, because what I am saying next is what I believe the decision makers at Channel 7 were thinking, but cannot say openly due to the sexual harassment can of worms.

Jana Murrell is a smoking-hot piece of ass that will get single men who are early-risers to maturbate feverishly to the news before going to work. She's got a great set of cans, a head that would look good smacking the headboard, and no experience in broadcasting. Let's hire her now.

So, they bring her on board, and give her a segment that is utterly worthless; traffic. They write her script the night before...you know it...

"Traffic on the increase as 8:00 approaches. Heavy flow on 680 North and South, I-80 between Iowa and Harrison steady. Look out for construction on 680 and Dodge; that will slow your commute this morning. Also be on the lookout for stop-and-go traffic in Downtown Omaha. Lame traffic report brought to you by Revlon."

She reads it all night to memorization, practices it in front of the mirror at home and voila! She is still hot, and no one cares about the traffic.

I'm sorry. The word is MASTURBATE, not MATURBATE. I was maturbating when I wrote this.

That being said, the brief shot of her at the beginning and the end of the segment doesn't make her look very hot, and doesn't allow enough time for whatever early morning activities you may have planned for her appearance. KETV can't even get putting a hot chick on TV to suck in viewers right.
